TTPP104: Becoming the Most Qualified UK Tax Advisor: Was It Worth It? with Rowan Morrow-McDade

Rowan, our guest for this episode, is the most qualified UK tax professional. He’s got 8 qualifications, and he is currently doing his 9th.

Just wow.

If that’s not crazy enough, he’s been interviewed by Vogue magazine, appeared on Times Radio multiple times, and has addressed MPs in parliament on a tax topic, all of which are pretty cool gigs to get (cool for a tax adviser, anyway!).

In this episode, Rowan shares his story and why he’s done so many professional qualifications. I thought it was to benefit his career – but was I right?

We discuss whether there is a limit to the amount of qualifications you can have that will benefit your tax career. We discuss whether you are better off spending your time doing something other than gaining further qualifications. We also discuss which ones are essential or helpful dependent on area of specialism. Finally, we discuss how he ended up getting his interesting gigs.

By the end of the episode, you should have a good idea of the answer to the question: working in tax, should you do another professional qualification? This is a question I pondered for a while earlier in my career.
