In this episode, episode 2 of Tax Role Insights, we are joined by Salman Anwar, an Associate Director at BDO, specialising in tax-dispute resolution and tax risk.
Salman provides an insight into what it’s like to work in these areas and what tax-dispute resolution/tax risk experts do. There’s a decent amount of overlap with what I do, working in employment taxes, and it could be the same for you, too!
It is rare for people to specialise in the two areas Salman does – usually people specialise in one or the other. And usually those who work in tax-dispute resolution are ex-HMRC. But do you need to be, to work in this area?
For some time. I’ve thought working in tax-dispute resolution sounds enjoyable, so I was keen to get Salman’s thoughts around the routes into tax-dispute resolution and whether some experience – like working in employment taxes for example – would not make it a natural move.
As you would presume, there are some that are more natural than others, so if you are keen to move into tax-dispute resolution, helping taxpayers with their HMRC investigations, enquires and disputes, I would be taking on Salman’s advice!
Listen to get your insight!
